Here’s the news on the boston to burningman truck:
There is a second container started…but only 16 shares have been sold! One of which is mine!
If it doesn’t sell out then it will be cancelled and I will be sad 
The shares are $390… yes this is a lot BUT…. If you team up with your friends… then you can get your camping equipment out to the playa for WAY cheap.. I think like 5 people could send out basic camping equipment in one share!
This will be FAR AND AWAY, WAY CHEAPER than paying the d-bags at the airline the extra cash on checked baggage fees… AND you would be helping other burners get their projects out to the playa..
Seriously… this is prolly the only way that the second truck is gunna happen… so I am calling for ALL you friggin awesome people that were gunna just pack tight and bring your stuff on the plane- like I usually do- to pack it tight and throw in some extra ‘cool clothes’ and maybe a few other bits and pieces that you usually do without out there and buy up a share on the container!

It really isn’t that much of a pain in the asss… plus loading and unloading would be a GREAT way to meet other burners and would help bring the vibe home for you!
We can SO make this happen…
I’ll pinch each and every one of you on the ass if it does!
Thanks …. The jason

The winner gets $150 plus tons of free exposure.

http://www.defythebox.com/events/win-150-designing-a-kick-ass-logo-for-defy-the-box/

Hey there you fine bunch of freaky creative individuals!

My name is Leah Shapiro and I am the founder of DefytheBox.com. Over the past year my website and vision have grown to the point where it is ready to have a kick-ass logo to represent it. My plan is to create a Defy the Box movement and build an empire from it.

I want a cool, powerful, sassy, unique image to represent my vision. What I hope is that you – or one of your equally out-there friends – will design it for me.

What I’m looking for is a fun, freaky, hot, edgy, hip perspective. (Think alternative-minded, Burning Man, firespinning, hooping, Anime, sexy, Steam Punk, tattooed, ex-raver types with a splash of yoga and spirituality thrown in.)

So what I want to know is just 2 things:

Do YOU hold that perspective?

Can you create a logo for Defy the Box that embodies the energy of someone who has thrown traditional ideas out the window and refused to be crammed into a box by society ?

Defy the Box is all about breaking free from the pre-packaged ideas much of society holds about how to be successful and live life. It’s about being committed to discovering your own unique way of living that allows you to not only survive but to THRIVE. It’s all about experiencing SUCCESS and MEANING in your life while you live your life the way YOU want to.

This is what I am looking for:

• Cartoon or Anime in style.

• A strong, androgynous-looking "ninja"-type figure bursting out of a box with their fist held high and the broken fragments of the box laying around them or breaking away from them.

• Think explosive… powerful… unique… edgy… At the same time, it’s a bit mystic and illuminated. There should be the idea of a powerful energetic force at work.

• Something that looks good large or as a thumbnail…so as simple as possible

• Round in shape

• The colors would be Black (#000000), red (#FF0000 or #CC0000), gold/yellow (#FFFF00)… These are suggestions. I’m willing to tweak the color tones a bit, but I want to keep inside the same basic family of colors

• looks good in black–and-white, grayscale, and color

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday June 10th at 9 PM EST.

I will post the top 5 submissions on my website and other places where Defy the Box hangs out. This means lots of exposure for you!

I will narrow it down to my top 3 favorites and I will let people vote on the images that appeal to them. This will be taken into consideration when I chose the winner.

To sign up for Defy the Box Kick Ass Logo Design Contest go to: http://www.defythebox.com/events/win-150-designing-a-kick-ass-logo-for-defy-the-box/. SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM.

----------------------------------
About Gateway to Nepal....
Our involvement in South Asia began in 1999 when one of our board members saw an
opportunity he couldn’t pass up. When he learned that it cost only about $100 to free a family
who was bound in slavery, he traveled to Nepal and purchased the freedom of 42 families. Shortly
thereafter, the government of this Himalayan nation officially banned slavery, freeing over
200,000 people! The problem now is that these families have their freedom, but literally
nothing else - they are in extreme poverty. Therefore, Gateway to Nepal is partnering with local
leaders to do basic community development for these newly freed men and women.

Currently:
o We’ve recently finished building a beautiful new school for the children, and we’d like to
build more.
o We’ve helped many families purchase farmland, but now we need to help them irrigate
the land by building wells. We are also installing two water treatment systems so entire
villages have access to clean water.
o We would like to purchase one water buffalo for each family so that they can drink and
sell its milk. This will help them earn about $1 per day to live on.
o We are giving these villagers microloans to start up a banana plantation to provide
families with a source of income.

Your donations help us dig wells to irrigate the land and purchase water buffaloes to help make
families financially independent. Each well costs about $1000 and each buffalo costs about
$250. Water buffaloes provide approximately 4 liters of milk a day. One liter can be used to
provide nutrition for the family’s children and the other 3 can be sold, providing families with
sustainable financial support. Your donations also provide new school supplies for the children
attending our school and go towards sponsoring teachers in the villages. Finally, your donations
allow us to provide villagers with microloans to work towards their financial independence.
Visit us at: www.gatewaytonepal.org

Hey you! You are cordially invited to participate in the totally epic 5th Annual Boston Bunny Barhop! That's right, come spread springtime cheer whilst making a total ass of yourself!

WHAT: A good ol'-fashioned barhop in bunny ears. We will move together as a boisterous band of boozed-up bunnies, hopping from bar to bar to bar to bar to bar, grabbing a real-quick drink at each spot, giving out high fives, and just generally sticking it to the Man.

WHEN: Easter weekend, of course. Friday, April 10th. First drink of the night around 9 p.m!

WHERE: Cambridge, MA. Starting-line bar = Miracle of Science Bar & Grill, 321 Mass Ave.

WEB: Please visit www.bunnybarhop.moonfruit.com if you need further convincing!

------- THE SORDID DETAILS -------

GLOWINESS!: We like to establish as glorious a street presence as possible, so we encourage maximum GLOW-iness! Please deck your bad self out with glowsticks, LEDs, EL-wire, lasers, flamethrowers, or, like, whatever!

HOTLINE!: The Bunny Barhop Hotline will be open all night. Participants may call the number: (508) 265-9141 and get minute-to-minute updates on the current location of the 'Hop. Come join the rabble at any time (though we'd love to have you there for the whole ugly drunken affair, start to glorious finish).

ROUTE!: There's a planned route for the 'Hop, hitting hotspots (and freaking out squares!) down Mass Ave toward Harvard Square. Traditionally we get as far as The People's Republik (876 Mass Ave), so proactive designated drivers may wish to park around this area at the beginning of the night.

LOVE!: We welcome rabbits of all cliques, circles, & crews. Throw on your ears, come on down, and make a mass of instant new drunken friends!

RULES!: There is only one hard n' fast rule (say it with us, people): RABBIT EARS MANDATORY. Seriously seriously seriously. Fashion them out of construction paper. Grab them from the Easter aisle of your friendly neighborhood drugstore. Maim a stuffed animal. Just wear the frickin' ears.

Questions & suggestions may be directed to your friendly rabbit coordinators:
Rikam (a.k.a. Erik Amyot) is one of the leading psychedelic-trance DJs in North America. Since 1994, he’s also one of the most respected psychedelic-trance party organizers in Canada. Rikam is an electronic-music lover. He founded eXpérience productions in 1994 and Tech Safari in 2002. He first encountered techno, acid-house and acid-trance music in the early 1990s and started collecting his first vinyl records. He first discovered goa trance parties around 1994. Following his passion for this new music and new energy and his desire to share it, he produced the first psytrance, goa-trance and techno parties in Trois-Rivières (Quebec) with eXpérience productions.

In 2003, with the Tech Safari team, he organized the first international outdoor psytrance festival in Canada: Eclipse Summer Trance Festival. Only one year later, Rikam and the Tech Safari collective created a new series of parties called “Amazone” in different locations throughout Montreal. Rikam is now a key element in the development of emerging psytrance culture in North America, and especially in Canada, where he is both DJ and instigator. He's played alongside renowned artists such as Ido Ophir, Hallucinogen, D-Nox, Beckers, Deedrah, Koxbox, Transwave, Domestic, Talamasca, GMS, Absolum, Wizzy Noise, Ticon, Dino Psaras, X-Dream, Protoculture, Pixel, The Delta, OTT, James Monro, Son Kite, Joti Sidhu, Wrecked Machines, Vibrasphere, and many others.

Okay, so I am one of the organizers of an upcoming sideshow. We are in the midst of planning everything... finding interesting characters and acts, looking for local venues.. old fashioned theaters and whatnot, etc. If all goes as planned, it should be live in a couple months.

My questions are:

Does anyone know of any affordable, but decent, theaters or just halls with stages that we would be able to rent out in the Boston area? We've been searching, but everything is ridiculously priced, and we are just starting out, so we don't have much money!

Secondly, does anyone have any freakish talents or tricks that they know and would be interested in performing an act on our stage? Send me a message! We are always searching for newer and better characters for our show.. even if you have NO experience, it doesn't matter.. we like enthusiastic people that want to learn and practice for it, from scratch :-)

Thanks all!

This is an example of the work some people are doing to get an " official " message to our ( district ) State Representatives that the "numb" ers commonly being published and worked toward as being acceptable in an effort to mitigate the catastrophic and cataclysmic effects of pumping fossil carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases ( methane etc. ) into our atmosphere are unacceptable.
There's ambiguity about this particular phrase " phases out tax incentives for energy-intensive projects" noted by many people who have signed and been reluctant to sign because of the language as RENEWABLE energy intensive projects are what we are calling for and certainly will appreciate support and inclusion of tax incentives.
It was written this way as we were attempting to keep the question as short and simple as possible. There is supporting text in the questions and answers on our modest website.

I'd really appreciate getting into a conversation about your thoughts about the effectiveness of a local, non binding public policy ballot initiative, what it will take, as an effort of "we, the people" both politically and in the ways we alter our lifestyles to, eventually, reduce to zero the fossil and nuclear fuels we consume.

We would be pretty adaptable but the place would need a semi-legit stage (not just a foot and a half thing in the corner of a bar).
Some of the housemates make use of a composting toilet as well. We have onsite laundry and try to hang dry clothes when we can (though we DO have a traditional washer & dryer).

In any case, we are currently looking for a likeminded roommate who would like to live in a consensus-minded home and help work towards sustainability.

Currently there are 2 guys living downstairs (where the open bedroom is available) and 2 women & 1 guy living upstairs (I'm the upstairs guy). At this moment, we are looking to find someone to move in downstairs...however (and I haven't talked with my roommates about this yet) I may be moving out in May or June, so a 2nd roommate would also be needed.

Obviously, any potential roommates would need to meet with current housemates before any decision is made...

The house is in a really nice neighborhood; street parking (no permit needed) VERY safe, nice park about 150 feet from the front door, an MBTA bus route goes right by the house, the T is about a 20 minute walk and there are TONS of food/beverage/book/coffee/produce/bakery type shops very close by...

Please email me if you are interested - I can give you more details...
It started as a ride. It started as a way of remembering a mother or a sister. A father or a brother. A friend or someone they had just met. Less than 20 friends getting together to ride and remember someone that had succumbed to cancer. More than 20 years later and donations totaling over $100 million dollars, it has turned into an event. An event that celebrates those that have survived and for those that will.

We ride in remembrance. We ride for those not yet cured. Those that cannot say, "I am cancer free for one year, two years, three years". We ride for those not old enough to experience a Red Sox World Championship, or a Patriots Super Bowl victory. We ride for those that cannot understand why this has happened to them and for those that never had a chance to fight back. We ride for those who wait for a cure.
It's been a long time coming. Poor Boston has been behind the
curve, but we're trying to fix that and are currently starting up
an organization named Banditos Misteriosos (www.misteriosos.org), with the focus
of bringing Boston/Cambridge alive with a slew of guerilla activities
and craft fairs. We really want to make this organization as
community-based as possible, so visit your new home (http://misteriosos.org) and
get involved!

We are proud to announce that we are getting the ball rolling with
you are across from from the Cathedral Church of St. Paul on your left.

There are four simple guidelines!
1. Bring a pillow! A soft one if you can!
3. Arrive early and remain inconspicuous as you can until the time of battle (1pm)!
4. Spread the word. Bring your friends! Bring your children!
6:30pm

At the Pleasant Street Congregational Church
75 Pleasant Street, Arlington, MA 02476
(One block west of Mass Ave, in Arlington Center. Ten minutes by bus from the Alewife T station. Two blocks off the Minuteman Bike Path)

For full info, and to buy tickets online, see http://www.bikesnotbombs.org/chomsky07

Noam Chomsky has been a Bikes Not Bombs donor and member for more than 12 years, and he will be donating his time to speak as a benefit for BNB on December 13th. As the war stretches on in Iraq and threatens to spread into unending war for the US in more countries, this is an important time to hear from Professor Chomsky on the political, social and economic consequences of the current war. Thus we can deepen our understanding of the workings of power and consider how we can best work towards lasting peace and social justice.

Doors open at 6:30pm. Noam Chomsky will be speaking first, followed by a question and answer period. Next will be a slide show by Carl Kurz, founder of Bikes Not Bombs, giving a history of BNB's beginnings in war-torn Nicaragua, and an updated overview of BNB's international and youth work today. A brass choir (including BNB members) will be opening and closing the event with brief performances of shape-note and Croatian harmonies, played on tuba, trombones, french horn, and trumpet.

"Judged in terms of the power, range, novelty and influence of his thought, Noam Chomsky is arguably the most important intellectual alive today," wrote Paul Robinson in the New York Times Book Review. Chomsky, a 79 year-old professor of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is the most widely known critic of American foreign policy, especially as it affects ordinary citizens of Third World nations. For more information on Noam Chomsky's work, books, articles, etc see http://www.chomsky.info. For more information on this event with Bikes Not Bombs and to purchase advance tickets, see http://www.bikesnotbombs.org/chomsky07

DIRECTIONS:
* The Minuteman Bike Path crosses the intersection of Mass Ave and Pleasant Street (about a block from the church). This is about a 10 minute ride on the path going north from Alewife T station. We are bringing racks so you can lock up your bike on the lawn of the church.

* Buses from the Alewife T station are a 10 minute ride and let you out 2 blocks from the church. (From Alewife take either the #79 "Arlington Hts Mass Ave" or the #67 "Turkey Hill Via Arlington Ctr") Use the MBTA Trip Planner: http://mbta.com/rider_tools/trip_planner/

* By Commuter Rail, get off at Porter Square in Cambridge and catch a bus directly to Arlington Center (we suggest the #77 "Arlington Hts Mass Ave"). Use the MBTA Trip Planner: http://mbta.com/rider_tools/trip_planner/

* Driving directions are very simple: traveling north on Massachusetts Avenue, turn left on Pleasant Street at the main intersection of Arlington Center, and the church is on your right in the second block. Unrestricted parking is available on Pleasant Street after 6pm. There is also a city lot in Arlington Center which will be free for parking after 6pm. (Driving north on Mass Ave, go through the lights at the intersection with Pleasant St, then take your first right to get to the parking lot. 2.5 blocks from the event!)

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This retrospective includes seven original, short works from the nineteen videos Barron has written and directed between 1965 and 2007. Featuring her recently completed “Magritte Quartet” (Magritte sur la Plage, 1976, 15 min.); Viva Magritte (1983, 20 min.); Time With Magritte (1986, 21 Min.); and Magritte Meets Descartes (2007, 15 min.); as well as Vida Richter (1972, 11 min.) and S.S. Best described as surreal juxtapositions of space, scale, objects, and environments, this celebrated artist’s distinctive work has been supported by the Rockefeller Foundation, New York; the Massachusetts Council on the Arts; and has been shown at the Whitney Museum, MOMA, and the Kijkhuis Museum in the Netherlands.
YUM Local(e) at Project YUM!

It's Food for Thought. It's Art You Eat. It's a Participatory Potluck!

WHAT: Come eat your art out at the YUM Local(e) Station, part of Project YUM, a delicious afternoon where food and art intersect!

WHERE: Union Square, Somerville
WHEN: October 13th, 3-6pm (come early for the Farmers Market, 9am - 1pm!)

WHY: You like free food don't you? Well, what about free art that you help create?

EXTRA BONUS: This event is free and open to the public!

>From 3-6pm on Saturday October 13th, PAI's Meet Me At The Table invites you to be both a chef and a storyteller for the day!

How? It's as easy as pie! Just bring a dish of "local food" and its story to share! You are welcome to either prepare the dish yourself or pick up something at the Project YUM festival. Come early to buy your fresh produce at the Saturday Farmers Market, from 9am-1pm and other ingredients at the many local ethnic markets nearby!

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS! YUM volunteers will flavor the discussion and conduct interviews with willing participants about food, memory, and place.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!
We need hungry people! More specifically we need people hungry for conversation to be ourYUM Local(e) conversation cookers.
Help us spread the word at the Union Square Farmers Market on the following Saturday mornings: October 6th and October 13th.

Or sit with guests at the table at the YUM Local(e) Station. Stir the conversation pot about peoples' personal and community-based stories and memories about food and food production. We will be holding a planning meeting with these volunteers on the evening of Wednesday, October 10th.

If you are interested in getting involved in either of these volunteer roles, send an email to info@berwickinstitute.org.
----------------
How is a good meal like a story? From the first time your parents tried to sneak in chopped liver into your lasagna, to the green papaya salad your mother taught you how to make when you were young, to the conversation you had with that farmer about the secrets of mushrooming, every dish has a story. We want to hear yours!

How can you tell yours? The Berwick has installed a number of answer boxes where visitors to the Union Square Farmer's Market are invited to submit their responses to these questions: "What are three words that come to mind when you hear the word 'local food'?", "What is your favorite memory associated with a "local food"?", and more. You can contribute your own answers by filling out a short online survey.Responses to these questions, also posted on the Berwick's website, will be displayed at the YUM Local(e) Station on the 13th.

YUM Local(e) is the third in a series of five curated dinner conversations hosted by the Berwick's Public Art Incubator (PAI) program. The series, collectively entitled Meet Me At The Table, invites anyone who is interested in how public art projects can activate temporary social spaces for positive change to join. These dinners, which run through the winter of 2007/2008, feature conversations augmented by contributions from guest artists and chefs. Visit the Meet Me At The Table page on the Berwick website (www.berwickinstitute.org) for more information. This project is supported by the LEF Foundation, Arts Union, and the Boston Cultural Council.

-------------------------------------

The Berwick Research Institute is pleased to be partnering with Somerville Art Council's ArtsUnion and a number of area food producers for Project YUM, a Union Square festival celebrating local crops and global shops. You can get a full run down of the festival events here.

"Across the country and around the world, a new type of street band is
emerging. Acoustic and mobile, borrowing repertoire and inspiration
from a diverse set of folk music traditions – New Orleans second line
brass bands, European Klezmer, Balkan and Gypsy music, Brazilian Afro
Bloc and Frevo traditions, as well as the passion and spirit of Mardi
Gras and Carnivale – these "honkers" all share a commitment to several
core principles. Metaphorically speaking, they honk their horns for
the same reasons motorists honk theirs: to arouse fellow travelers, to
warn of danger, to celebrate milestones, and to just plain have fun.

As often as they honk in protest, however, they also perform to
celebrate the causes and institutions they support: multicultural
festivals, peace conferences, social forums, artists collectives,
community gardens, children's workshops, neighborhood fundraisers,
block parties, relief benefits and homeless shelters. In these cases,
as in every case, the honkers' ultimate goal is to have fun, to relish
the art of making fun as a form of individual and collective
transcendence, and to encourage others to see and do the same.

Last October, for the first time ever, a dozen honk bands from around
the country gathered in Davis Square to meet, perform and hang out
together. It was a blast! So we're doing it all over again this coming
Columbus Day Weekend, October 5-8, 2007. There'll be more music, more
bands, and plenty more fans to help us party in the streets. Hope to
see y'all there!"

musician with a broad set of skills, Nuno was the

The world we live in is a perpetual symphony of sensory information. It is all around us, from the neon colors reflected in a puddle on the street, to the quirky clanking of the pipes in our walls. We usually take this symphony for granted. The artist and the musician, however, present us with the gift of unique interpretations and perceptions of this symphony. The upcoming event, titled SOUNDSCAPE, will be a synergistic exhibition of what the artist has to show us, and what the musician has to tell us.

SOUNDSCAPE is a synergistic interaction of sight, sound, and crowd motion. Sixteen musicians will perform simultaneously, each one only in response to their two neighboring musicians. They will be spread throughout the gallery, separated by wall configurations which function both as sound barriers and interactive environments where visual artists will create site-specific artworks of video, sculpture, architecture, and interactive sound and light installation. The works will be created in response to the music and the space. As the audience moves throughout the space to view the artwork, the sound modulates and transforms. This layering of visual and auditory experience is the essence of SOUNDSCAPE. The event will be held on September 14th and Saturday September 15th at 368 Congress St. in the Fort Point Channel area of Boston. Calling out to our community to rock to his massive basslines, thick mob scene beats, freakshow energy, and fearless mashing of genres, styles, sounds, moods, and approaches.

WHO:
* Headliner: Bassnectar
* Opener: Psylab

HOW:
TICKETS: Available at the door. $10

WHERE:
Axis, 15 Lansdowne St., Boston

WHY:
Every year thousands of people migrate to the Nevada desert over Labor Day week to celebrate Burning Man, a socially conscious, art, music and cultural festival. This year, the theme of Burning Man is "Green Man," recognizing humanity's relationship with nature.

Proceeds from Burning Jam will be donated to various environmental groups to offset carbon usage from Boston burners as they make their trip to Burning Man.

About Bassnectar:
http://www.bassnectar.net/
A freeform project that merges music, art, new media, social involvement, and community values; dedicated to a constantly-evolving ethos of collaborative creation, self-reinvention, and boundary-pushing experimentation. While existing as a mutating collaborative effort, Bassnectar is traditionally the amorphous music project of Lorin Ashton, a San Francisco based Musician / Producer / DJ, highlighted by massive basslines, thick mob scene beats, freakshow energy, emotive melodics, traditional acoustic instrumentation, and fearless mashing of genres, styles, sounds, moods, and approaches.

About Psylab:
http://www.psylabunderground.com/
Holding down the sounds of the Boston underground since 2004, Psylab has been touring the Northeast, performing at clubs, lofts, raves, festivals, and regional Burning Man events for thousands of fans, friends and freaks. Reaching as far west as the Sierra Nevadas (Northern CA's Symbiosis Gathering '06), and as far south as South Beach, FL (WMC's Miambient), Psylab's music has set the soundtrack for many magical events. Drawing from a range of influences including psytrance, minimal tech, progressive house, dnb, jungle, ambient, downtempo and dubstep, Psylab transforms and adapts to its surroundings for a unique experience each and every time -- no two sets are ever alike.

Jefr Tale-local dj jefr tale will host the event. He runs Root Society, one of Burning Man's largest theme camps. He also hosts Club Tales, a weekly house music show on Area 33/Sirius. Jeff has been a staple in New England's club scene for 28 years.

WHAT:
Boston burners unite to bring underground San Francisco DJ Bassnectar to
Axis! This will be his first live appearance in Boston, for a huge summer
bash. Calling out to our community to rock to his massive basslines, thick
mob scene beats, freakshow energy, and fearless mashing of genres, styles,
sounds, moods, and approaches.

WHO:
*       Headliner: Bassnectar
*       Opener: Psylab

HOW:
TICKETS: Available at the door. $10

WHEN:
Friday, August 3, 2007

WHERE:
Axis, 15 Lansdowne St., Boston

WHY:
Every year thousands of people migrate to the Nevada desert over Labor Day
week to celebrate Burning Man, a socially conscious, art, music and cultural
festival. This year, the theme of Burning Man is "Green Man," recognizing
humanity's relationship with nature.

Proceeds from Burning Jam will be donated to various environmental groups to
offset carbon usage from Boston burners as they make their trip to Burning
Man.

About Bassnectar:
A freeform project that merges music, art, new media, social involvement,
and community values; dedicated to a constantly-evolving ethos of
collaborative creation, self-reinvention, and boundary-pushing
experimentation. While existing as a mutating collaborative effort,
Bassnectar is traditionally the amorphous music project of Lorin Ashton, a
San Francisco based Musician / Producer / DJ, highlighted by massive
basslines, thick mob scene beats, freakshow energy, emotive melodics,
traditional acoustic instrumentation, and fearless mashing of genres,
styles, sounds, moods, and approaches.

About Psylab:
Holding down the sounds of the Boston underground since 2004, Psylab has
been touring the Northeast, performing at clubs, lofts, raves, festivals,
and regional Burning Man events for thousands of fans, friends and freaks.
Reaching as far west as the Sierra Nevadas (Northern CA's Symbiosis
Gathering '06), and as far south as South Beach, FL (WMC's Miambient),
Psylab's music has set the soundtrack for many magical events. Drawing from
a range of influences including psytrance, minimal tech, progressive house,
dnb, jungle, ambient, downtempo and dubstep, Psylab transforms and adapts to
its surroundings for a unique experience each and every time -- no two sets
are ever alike.

Jefr Tale-local dj jefr tale will host the event. He runs Root Society, one
of Burning Man's largest theme camps. He also hosts Club Tales, a weekly
house music show on Area 33/Sirius. Jeff has been a staple in New England's
club scene for 28 years.

(around 7pm I think?) For those of you that don't know them, TCE is an Australian band hailing from Melbourne, and they're amazing (and quite famous in australia)....I saw them at the Paradise Rock Club earlier this year, and you can't help but jump up and down and rock out to their music....it's a combination of Latin, Jazz, Funk, and a heavy australian accent, in their own special blend. It's the kind of music that you can't help but be happy while listening to it...and when they play live, their jams are epic.
is for Art-Beast" (http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/programs/
artbeat/2007/schedule.html )-- so there will be lots going on... :-)

We'll be setting up to craft in the in the sunshine (raindate July
21), so grab or bring a ball of yarn and some double-point knitting
needles (or Crochet hooks!) and some friends and knit little colored
bands of yarn-lichen around everything we have enough time and yarn
for. After the festival, the knitting will be cut off, and sewn into
a full tapestry for display.

This project is inspired by the work of Knitta Please
( www.knittaplease.com ) and other graffiti knitters, but I wanted to
organize an experiement where knitters/crochetters collaboratively
create together instead of somethng that happens under-cover... Bring
your friends or make new ones, and pass the yarn around the tree or
pole from knitter to knitter, creating a piece where the knitting
doesn't stop when your section ends...(though alternative
explorations and methods are encouraged!)

To participate, find "Angry Candy" -- a bejeweled rickshaw full of
yarn, and other supplies. Near the Bike Racks Behind the T on the
Seven Hills Park/Somerville Theatre in Davis Square (booth 116).
Drop an email if you're up for it, or have an inclination to help out.

=-=-From the ArtBeat Program-=-=

<a href="">All Day — Knitting</a>
There will be two knitting groups at ArtBeat this year! At the
“Beauty and the Fiber Beast” table, festival goers can feel fibers
from beasts (camels, yaks, goats, dogs and silkworm) as well as
fibers from non-beasts (soy, bamboo, seaweed, corn). See how yarn is
made, get instruction or tips, or knit/crochet your own small beast.
Meanwhile Sarah Davitt will be organizing knitters to create “yarn-
lichen” to display on trees, statues and fence poles throughout the
festival.
